What a wonderful first week here at Sam Livingston.

A great turnout at the Meet the Teacher/Grade Team & BBQ last night!  It was so encouraging to see so many of you as we gathered to share information about the upcoming school year from the teachers but also come together as a community to celebrate the beginning of a new year.

Entry was very smooth this week and that is due in large part to our supportive community and your willingness to communicate and work with us in so many ways.

Thank you to all of you!

IMPORTANT DATES:

September 12 - PM Kindergarten in attendance

September 17 – Fun Lunch – Papa Johns

September 19 – AM Kindergarten in attendance

TRAFFIC REMINDERS

When parking to drop off or pick up, please do not block crosswalks or driveways.  You must park 5 meters away from any crosswalk.  Backing into a crosswalk is extremely dangerous.

  • Please cross at the crosswalks – not between the busses.
  • Please do not park in the crosswalks or in front of driveways.
  • Please be mindful of your speed in all areas around our community, including alleyways.
  • Please do NOT walk through the parking lot.
  • Please be mindful of pets on leash, they are low to the ground.
  • Dogs are not allowed on school property.
  • Even when running late, please follow the traffic guidelines to maintain safety – we will welcome you anytime you come.

MORNING SUPERVISION

Outdoor supervision by school staff begins at 7:45 am for AM Kinders and full-day students. We kindly ask that students not be dropped off before this time.

In order to ensure the safety and security of all students during the day, the playground is closed during the school day from 7:45 am – 2:30 pm.

MEDICAL FORMS

If your child requires or could require that medication to be given at school and administered by staff, we require the Student Health Plan form to be filled in and submitted to the office.  Please see the attached form to download, complete and hand in as soon as possible.  This includes all medications (prescribed or over the counter), epi-pens and asthma inhalers.

It is requested that students wear epi-pens and inhalers on their person, in a fanny pack and that an extra one be housed in the office.  If your child does not wear it, it is essential that you let the classroom teacher know where it will be kept.

Please note that this is in addition to the medical forms you will fill out in your School Engage account, accessed through your MyCBE account.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROVIDER INFORMATION

It is your responsibility as parents to inform your out-of-school care provider about their absences.  If you do not let the out of school care provider know, they are mandated to ask us about the status of your child.  We are unable to share this information unless you grant us permission. Please fill in this form and return it to the office should you wish to grant us this permission.
