PICK UP REQUEST
To help ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students, we kindly ask families to wait as close to your respective doors as possible at the end of day, rather than far out in the field. This allows staff to easily locate and make visual contact of each adult picking up each student. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
END-OF-DAY CHANGES
All end-of-day dismissal changes must be communicated to the office no later than 12:00 p.m. This allows us sufficient time to inform staff and students and to ensure that dismissal runs smoothly and safely. Should changes be communicated after 12:00pm, we will dismiss students as per normal.
When emailing our office to communicate absences or end-of-day changes, please ensure to include your child’s FULL name, room number and teacher name.
TRAFFIC REMINDERS
When parking to drop off or pick up, please do not block crosswalks or driveways. You must park 5 meters away from any crosswalk. Backing into a crosswalk is extremely dangerous.
Please cross at the crosswalks – not between the busses.
- Please do not park in the crosswalks, in the staff parking lot or in front of driveways.
- Please be mindful of your speed in all areas around our community, including alleyways.
- Please do NOT walk through the parking lot.
- Please be mindful of pets on leash, they are low to the ground.
- Dogs are not allowed on school property.
- Even when running late, please follow the traffic guidelines to maintain safety – we will welcome you anytime you come.
- Please remember to look both ways before entering a crosswalk.
A NOTE ABOUT TERRY FOX
We had a guest speaker this week, Willa Marshall, ambassador from the Terry Fox Foundation and she shared a few thoughts with us after her visit.
“It was a pleasure visiting École Sam Livingston on Tuesday. Thank you for inviting me and hosting me!
We have kicked off our 2026 Terry Fox School Run! An Ambassador from The Terry Fox Foundation presented a special assembly at our school! We are very proud to share Terry Fox’s story with our school community.
At the age of 18, Terry Fox was diagnosed with bone cancer and was forced to have his right leg amputated. Determined to help others suffering from cancer, he decided to run across Canada to raise funds for cancer research. Terry ran a marathon a day for 143 days before his cancer returned, forcing him to end his Marathon of Hope. Terry passed away on June 28, 1981, but his legacy had only just begun. Inspired by his perseverance, Canadians picked up his Marathon of Hope and continued running towards his goal — a dream of a world without cancer.
This year marks the 46th anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope, and Canadians from coast to coast are coming together for the "Finish It" campaign — a call to action to help finish what Terry started. Watch the powerful short film FINISH IT, and be reminded of the impact one person can make.
Terry Fox started a marathon against cancer. Together, we can end it.
Today, the future of cancer research is brighter than ever. Lives are transformed as more Canadians hear, “We can treat your cancer successfully.”
