WEATHER SAFETY It is dangerously cold outside. Students have been dropped off early and left alone outside the school doors. In your planning, please consider that Sam Staff open the doors to welcome students inside at 7:45 am. Thank you for working with us to ensure that all children in our care arrive, transition and enter safely to our building, each and every morning.
WELCOME SOCIAL WORK PRACTICUM STUDENTS We are so pleased to welcome Rebecca and Maddison to our school. They will be working here as they complete their practicum hours towards their Social Work degrees through the University of Calgary. We are fortunate to have their support and presence at Sam. Please take a moment to read their bios and the infographic about what Social Workers do, below.
Hi there, My name is Rebecca and I am excited to be joining the Sam Livingston team this year. I am currently a student at the University of Calgary and am in the last semester of my Social Work degree. As a practicum student, I look forward to connecting with your children, and your family! The infographic attached shows some of the ways I will be involved with the school this coming semester. Some fun facts about me include that my favorite color is blue, I speak a little Spanish (no, not French, unfortunately), I love being outside, and pick up many hobbies! Hiking, skiing, skating, rock climbing, you name it-I have probably attempted it at some point. I also enjoy baking and crocheting stuffies for my nieces and nephews. I have a passion for serving kids and their families and hope to pursue being a play therapist in the future. Please reach out to the office, if there are ways we can help your family and contribute to your child’s well-being. Looking forward to connecting with you and your families!
Hello, My name is Maddison, and I am very excited to join the Sam Livingston staff this semester. I am currently a student at the University of Calgary and in the final semester of my Social Work degree; I also have a Criminology and Early Childhood Education certificate. A few fun facts about me are that I am from Newfoundland and love anything to do with the ocean. I am very passionate about fitness; I love powerlifting and go to the gym 5-7 days a week. Lastly, I also participated in competitive cheerleading until I got a rotator cuff injury; however, now I can lick my elbow.
GOT PANTS? We need them! We welcome any and all child-sized pants (ages 5-9) as donations to Sam as our “extra clothing” store is running low.
