SCHOOL FEES
Your fees are found in your MyCBE account.
FIELD TRIPS FEES: our teachers work hard to organize field trips both in and out of the school. Activities will be posted to your child’s account—please check it regularly throughout the school year.
SCHOOL BASED OPTIONAL FEES: includes the fees for the agenda that your child is using. If this fee box does not appear in your account it is because your child does not have an agenda. When we order recorders they are also found here. You will be informed by the music teacher that this will be added. These fees are visible for a limited time only as they must be paid before recorders are ordered.
STUDENT SUPPLIES FEES: covers the supplies that the teachers require for your child. These fees are $20 for kindergarten and $40 for grade 1 to 4.
This fee covers all school supplies. Teachers order from a central place so that all students have what is required.
TRANSPORTATION and LUNCH SUPERVISION FEES: are administered through the Student fees department of the CBE.
Should the amount of school fees be prohibitive for your family, please advise Mme Dhar McKenty at sbdhar@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-6890.
Birthday / Out of School Events - Invitations
The parent contact list for your child’s class has been created. This allows families to communicate with each other to arrange play dates, share birthday invites and the like. We strongly advise against sending birthday invites to school as it can be an exclusionary activity. School staff will not facilitate the distribution of birthday invitations during school hours.
Research Opportunity – Supporting families with Anxiety
Dr. Paul Arnold and his research team in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Calgary are collaborating on a national research project called the Genetic Architecture of Youth Anxiety (GAYA) study. The goal of this study is to better understand how genetics and other factors influence anxiety in young people.
Youth aged 8–19 years who speak English and can use a smartphone for a short study task are eligible to participate. The study is conducted entirely online and involves a one-time survey and a saliva sample. Participants receive $20 as a thank-you for their time.
Youth aged 13 and older may also choose to participate in an optional online anxiety-management program called Breathe, which helps them learn strategies to cope with anxiety and offers an additional $45 upon completion. In total, eligible participants may receive up to $65.
Our goal is to make information about this opportunity accessible to a diverse group of youth and families.
ICE BLOCKS!
This week we are gearing up for great weather, so I hope everyone has cleared out their freezers a bit for ice blocks! Please follow the instructions below as you prep your blocks:
Open the top of your milk carton all the way (see image below)
Spray the inside of your carton with PAM or another nut free oil
Add water and any food colouring or natural items to your block (please nothing that will hurt the environment)
Place your carton upright in the freezer for 4-5 days!
Bring your ice blocks to school the morning of Thursday February 19, please place them in the triangular green space in front of the parking lot between 7:00 – 7:30 am, 8:30 – 2:00 pm and 3:00 – up to you pm.
We cannot wait to make the best ice castle ever with you!
