SAM SWAG

For families wanting to purchase Sam Swag, our online store is open until October 3rd, 2025.

https://samlivingstion2025.itemorder.com/shop/sale/

Please note that purchasing Sam Swag is always optional and never mandatory for families.

Each of our students is placed into a grouping called a “Famille”, a “family” here at Sam Livingston.  Each “Famille” is represented by a specific colour (Purple, Blue, Yellow or Green).  Students are invited to wear their Famille colour every Monday (or first school day of the week) to build school spirit and comraderie between all of the grades.

WALK LETTER

Every year, our teachers enjoy taking our students on walking field trips to green spaces and natural areas that are in close proximity to our school.

Please read this year’s Walk Letter and retain for your information.

PERSONAL DEVICE POLICIES

Cell phones and other devices continue to be restricted in schools this year. Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g. earbuds and speakers.)

These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs and for educational purposes.

  • CBE will block student access to known social media platforms on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.
  • K-9 Students: will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet - simply left at home.

If a student is found to be using a personal mobile device in class without permission from the teacher, the CBE will work with the student to ensure the rules are understood. We rely on good communication and other existing processes to ensure students know what is expected.

Positive results have already been seen within schools that have implemented similar measures in recent years. Our goal is to improve student achievement and well-being with a focused and supportive learning environment.

The Student Personal Mobile Devices policy remains in place.

For more information, please visit our website or contact your school directly.

NUTS & ALLERGIES

We are a Nut Aware School

We are committed to providing a safe environment that is inclusive for all children. A number of our students have a potentially life-threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts. Some of you may have received a message from your child’s teacher requesting that no nuts be sent as a student impacted by this allergy in the classroom.  Students eat snack and lunch with and in their homeroom class.

Due to the increasing number of students and staff who suffer from a variety of food allergies including some with severe consequences to various types of nuts, we would like to remind parents that Nutella contains hazelnuts as well as being mindful in packing any food made with peanut butter, containing nuts or nut products. We want to thank parents for finding alternatives and working together to keep our students and staff safe. Parents of children with allergies must fill out appropriate forms (also available in the office) and ensure the school has the necessary medication on-hand should a reaction occur. This is also why we ask that parents do not send classroom treats. Staff are trained annually in the administration of an Epipen.

TOYS/ STUFFED ANIMALS...TREASURE OF ALL KINDS

We kindly ask that students not bring personal items to school.  They distract from learning and there is the potential for them to go missing.  The school has and provides fidget tools where and when necessary.

PARENT CONTACT LIST

Please note that a form went home asking if you would like to be part of the parent contact list for your child’s class.  This allows families to communicate with each other to arrange play dates, share birthday invites and the like.  We strongly advise against sending birthday invites to school as it can be an exclusionary activity.  School staff will not facilitate the distribution of birthday invitations during school hours.
