Day of the Girl:
Grade 3 students have been invited to participate in an event that focuses on giving back to the community. At Sam, we strive to create an environment of inclusivity and of giving. Through this initiative grade 3 students will participate in an off-site event to highlight the importance of giving back to the community on October 9th (more information to follow from grade 3 teachers). Part of the event will be creating backpacks for students who require them. We will be sending out a commercial message explaining how you can participate in the backpack making part of the event.

Commercial Messages
How do parents/guardians subscribe and opt-in for school messages?
If parents want to receive all messages from their school, they need to complete both of these steps:
1 | Subscribe online for commercial messages by entering their email address at cbe.ab.ca/subscribe. They must use their primary email on file at school.
2 | Opt-in for text messages by texting the word YES to the six-digit number 978338. The cell number must be on file at the school. (Text opt-in instructions are also explained at cbe.ab.ca/subscribe.)
Portable Removal Information – from the Calgary Board of Education
We wanted to update you on the project timeline for demolishing a modular at your school.
The old modular was successfully removed on Monday, and minor remediation will take place this week to ensure the school site where the modular was located is safe for students and the community to use. The final landscaping and building remediation are expected to be completed by early October. Crews will be working this week and next week to complete the final touch-ups on the site.
Crews are working closely with school administration to ensure no work is being completed when students may be outdoors or when it impacts the school day. Measures will continue to be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members using the school site during this time.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding this month as work occurs at your school. If you have any questions about this project, you may email accommodation@cbe.ab.ca.
Thank you,
Calgary Board of Education
