A NOTE ABOUT CONFERENCES

Given the limited days we have been in session this school year, these conferences will be an opportunity for teachers to share ongoing assessments and evaluations. Teachers will share valuable insights based on the evidence they have collected thus far. We are asking that families bear in mind that assessment information is still a work in progress.  The focus of this set of conferences is to connect with your child’s teacher, understand where current learning stands, and to start or continue conversations around next steps.  Our focus is and always will be supporting students to grow to their potential at every grade level.  Now more than ever, we deeply thank you for your continued support and understanding.

PERSONAL DEVICE POLICY REMINDERS

We are experiencing many students who are wearing smart watches to school.  Please read the policy below.

  • K-9 Students: will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet - simply left at home.

PERSONAL DEVICE POLICIES (as shared at the beginning of the year)

Cell phones and other devices continue to be restricted in schools this year. Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g. earbuds and speakers.)

These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs and for educational purposes.

  • CBE will block student access to known social media platforms on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.
  • K-9 Students: will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet - simply left at home.

If a student is found to be using a personal mobile device in class without permission from the teacher, the CBE will work with the student to ensure the rules are understood. We rely on good communication and other existing processes to ensure students know what is expected.

Positive results have already been seen within schools that have implemented similar measures in recent years. Our goal is to improve student achievement and well-being with a focused and supportive learning environment.

The Student Personal Mobile Devices policy remains in place.

For more information, please visit our website or contact your school directly.

DOGS NOT ALLOWED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY

While our pups are an incredibly important part of our families, we ask that they do not accompany you on to school property.

The City of Calgary Bylaw states that they are not allowed on school grounds or playgrounds.

GREEN FOOLS SHOW INFORMATION

As the entire school will be presenting, we cannot accommodate every family in the gym for viewing.  We will record the show and share the link with families.  In order to to do this, students must have consent for CBE Use of Student Information.  If you have not completed this form, classroom teachers will reach out and request you to complete it.  If you do not wish to give consent, please contact the office.
