EDGE IMAGING

2 Emails were originally sent on February 11th and March 4th explaining the initial breach and subsequently the resolution. We included the second message below. Please do contact the office if you have any questions.

*Please note that Edge Imaging will not be the photo provider in the future.

Last month, we informed you, on behalf of Edge Imaging, that the company experienced a cyber security breach, resulting in a third-party accessing student images. The breach impacted approximately 160 student images across four schools. Edge Imaging had assured us that no student names, locations, CBE school names, grades, or captions were accessed. You are receiving this notification because your child attends or attended one of the impacted schools, and we contacted you in February about the breach. We have an update from Edge Imaging CEO Jim Agnew regarding the breach, which is included below, the update states that all the Canadian photo files have been secured, deleted and were not distributed.

CONFIDENTIAL NOTICE FROM EDGE IMAGING

In February, we notified schools and school boards of a ransom attack on one of our 3rd party yearbook software providers, Entourage’s Canadian “Creator Studio Pro” web platform.

We have now been advised that the Creator Studio Pro team, working through their cyber security expert advisors, have secured the return of all the Canadian photo files, along with the commitment of the threat actors that the photo files have been deleted and were not distributed.

The team at Creator Studio Pro has engaged web monitoring services to help ensure the files do not appear on the internet and has undertaken a series of rigorous security checks by 3rd party experts to help prevent further incidents.

Since Edge Imaging, whose servers were completely unaffected by this or any other data breach, was not a direct party to these developments, we are not privy to any other details at this time.

An investigation has been opened by Entourage with authorities, and as a result, further information is not currently available. However, we will provide any material updates on our website at: https://edgeimaging.ca/cyber-incident/

Thank you,

Jim Agnew
